Essential Vaccinations For Elderly

Protect your loved ones with essential vaccinations recommended by our geriatrician specialists for older adults. At Alami Clinic, we offer a comprehensive range of vaccinations with subsidised options available for eligible patients.

Recommended Vaccinations

Influenza (Flu)

Annual flu vaccination is strongly recommended for the elderly. It provides protection against seasonal influenza, which can lead to serious complications in older adults.

Hepatitis B

Protects against hepatitis B virus infection, which can cause chronic liver disease. A series of 3 doses is recommended for those who have not been vaccinated.

Pneumococcal

Protects against pneumococcal disease, including pneumonia, meningitis, and bloodstream infections. Especially important for adults aged 65 and older.

Zoster (Shingles)

The shingles vaccine is recommended for adults aged 50 and above. It reduces the risk of shingles and the severe nerve pain that can follow.

Chickenpox (Varicella)

Recommended for adults who have never had chickenpox or been vaccinated. Chickenpox can be more severe in adults, especially the elderly.

COVID-19

Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters. The elderly are at higher risk of severe illness, making vaccination essential.

HPV (Human Papillomavirus)

HPV vaccination is available for eligible adults. Consult our doctors to determine if this vaccination is recommended for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are vaccinations important for the elderly?
As we age, our immune system weakens, making older adults more susceptible to infections and complications. Vaccinations provide essential protection against preventable diseases such as influenza, pneumonia, and shingles, reducing the risk of hospitalisation and serious illness.
Are the vaccinations subsidised?
Yes, many vaccinations are subsidised under the National Adult Immunisation Schedule (NAIS). Subsidies are available for CHAS cardholders, Pioneer Generation, and Merdeka Generation. The level of subsidy depends on your eligibility. Please bring your NRIC and relevant cards when visiting.
Can I get vaccinated at home?
Yes, we offer home vaccination services for elderly patients who are homebound or have difficulty travelling to the clinic. An additional charge of $150 applies for home vaccination visits.
How often do I need a flu vaccination?
The influenza vaccination is recommended annually, as the flu virus changes each year. Getting vaccinated every year ensures you are protected against the latest strains.
Is it safe to get multiple vaccinations at the same time?
Yes, it is generally safe to receive multiple vaccinations in one visit. Our doctors will assess your health condition and advise on the best vaccination schedule for you.
What should I bring for my vaccination appointment?
Please bring the following to your vaccination appointment:
  • NRIC
  • Previous vaccination records
  • CHAS / Pioneer / Merdeka card (if applicable)
Let our team know about any allergies or medical conditions.
Do you offer vaccination packages for families?
Yes, we offer family flu vaccination bundles at discounted rates. Our family bundles cover 2 to 4 family members. We also have special packages for adults aged 50 and above, as well as couple packages.
